Switchtec explains how outdoor lighting can be affected by potentially catastrophic events and how they can be protected
A power relay is a relay used for switching higher power circuits, from 3 Amp up to 40/50 Amps. The power relays uses an electromagnetic coil to attract the relay armature which can contain 1 or several contacts. Power relays contains a strong electromagnetic coil and spring mechanism to overcome the large electrical forces generated when switching higher power circuits
Typical applications for Power relays are automotive electronics, Audio amplification, Telecoms systems, Home appliances/white goods, Vending machines, Lighting control, Industrial sensors, Heat & Ventilation applications, and Control Panel switching and general control applications.
Switchtec carries extensive stock of the Hongfa range of Power Relays, whose range offers one of the most comprehensive portfolios of general purpose, Miniature and Sub Miniature Power Relays. These including many SPST, SPDT, DPST, DPDT as well as 3 pole power relays with Coil Voltages ranging from 3V to 48VDC and 24V to 230VAC. The most popular Coil Voltages being 12V &24VDC and 24V & 230VAC with the most common contact ratings being 5, 10 and 30 Amp.
Hongfa have a full selection of power relays with mounting options including surface mount power relays, PCB power relays, power relay for plugging into Din Rail Sockets. These are available in DPDT, SPST, DPST or SPDT combinations.
When specifying a power relay, the following options need to be considered, Coil Voltage (3 V, 5 V, 12 V, 24 V,…), Termination Style (PCB, PC Pin, Quick Connect,…) and Maximum Contact Current (from 3 to 50Amp) Contact arrangement SPST, DPDT, SPDT, DPST & 3 Pole.
